There’s nothing better than homemade strawberry jam as our grandmothers used to make. Jam from the shop has no nutritional value because it is made with pectin, flavors, food colors, many additives, and just a couple of strawberries per jar, to improve taste. Why to eat something so unhealthy when with small effort you can get real strawberry jam and use it for breakfast with butter and bread, or as filling for pancakes and donuts.
To help you in this small venture I will share a recipe for homemade strawberry jam that I used to make with my grandmother.
- 3 kg strawberries
- 1kg sugar
Instructions:
- Wash strawberries properly
- Prepare wide cooking pot and add strawberries
- Add sugar on top and leave few hours
- Then put that on the stove and cook slowly stirring to prevent sticking.
- When you drag a cooking spoon through cooked jam and that leaves a trace behind which closes slowly, then jam is ready.
- Pour jam into clean glass jars.
- Prepare oven heating it up on 150 C
- Put jars in baking pan
- Switch off oven and leave jars in the oven overnight
- Close jars the next day when completely cold.
