You bought potatoes and after some time noticed potatoes sprouted. That happens when spring gets closer, or when potato is stored in a cold place and you bring it in where is warmer. Change of temperature causes sprouting. Don't throw such potatoes. Sprouted potatoes can be used to grow young potatoes in your kitchen while the temperature is still too low outside, or even later on your balcony using containers. There's nothing so yummy than fried fresh young potato from your mini garden, plus you are sure there's no pesticide. Pure bliss. You can't buy such anywhere.
What containers can be used? Simply use old plastic buckets, clean them well, make little holes on the bottom for water draining. Use bucket cover to put under, you don't want water leaking everywhere. Then get some rich soil, you can find such in shops usually packed as a few liter bags, and plant your potatoes. Don't use soil for flowers. What's good for flowers isn't meant for growing food. Such soil can be filled with very bad and unhealthy materials. Make sure soil is for food growing.

Once you see flowers forming on your potato, don't forget to hill potato and that way increase yield. Why does that matter? When you hill potatoes, the length of steam beneath increases and with that increases the number of potatoes. How to hill them? There are two ways. Either add more soil around plants, or simply hill soil around them. You don't have to wait until the potato fully grows, start using young potatoes sliding fingers in soil, 'stealing' bigger potatoes and covering the rest with soil again, and watering right after.
Just one warning, if you are a pet owner, make sure your pets can't reach potatoes. Chewing and eating potato sprouts or leaves can be very dangerous for them and cause nausea, vomiting, fever and even death.
